The First One is the Cross Step

It can be said that the cross step is the most basic of the long table jump. The goal is to give you more flexibility on the dance board. Here you need to make consecutive S-turns while going up and down your deck, making turns as you step back and forth.

You will begin to cross step by riding on the dance board at a moderate speed, and you need to balance it well. Then, bring your front leg back, just in front of the back foot; bring toes forward, so that the feet are close together at right angles to each other. Please move your shoulders forward. Next, use your hind feet diagonally and place your front foot close to the edge of your back foot and turn your back foot forward. Bring your hind legs back, bend your knees, and push the toes of both feet onto the front rails to continue to turn your head forward. Basic Technique is Peter Pan

Like our cross step but a bit more complicated, start by bringing your foreleg close and perpendicular to your hind leg, around the middle of the deck. Lift back leg off the board and cross hind leg over front leg. Crossing your legs, place your back foot right next to your forefoot and close to the heel side rails.

Transfer your weight onto the back foot pushing into the heel side rails with the ball of the foot, to initiate a heel swing. After the plank hits the heel edge, repeat the previous step with your other leg: lift the “front” leg off the deck and cross the “front” foot over the back leg, this time around the back. Next, transfer your weight onto your “front” foot and push up the toe rails to begin touching the new toe edge. Repeat from the first step you already know this playing technique.

Complicated Technique is the Ghost Ride

Ghost Ride is a technique that involves crossing the hind leg over the forefoot, stepping out of the plank with the hind foot, then jumping back with the front leg. This manipulation is very stylish and the execution is more complicated than it actually is.

Move your back foot behind the forefoot, and pull your front foot so close to your back foot that the heels are about to touch. Toes are pointed forward. Your hind legs are positioned closer to the tail. Your forefoots are approximately centered in width. Then, lift your back leg from the deck.

Bring your hind leg up to the level of your forefoot, move your back foot over your forefoot and the heel edge of your dance board, and to the ground. When your legs are crossed, you touch the ground with your hind foot and your forefoot starts lifting off the board. When your hind legs are walking on the ground, cross your “front” legs around your hind legs and jump back to the board with your front legs. Finally, return your hind legs back to the starting position and repeat.

Time to Practice the Pirouette Technique

Pirouette is a technique of making a 360º rotation around your own axis on a jumpboard while moving. This technique requires a number of techniques in practice.

Begin in a normal skating position, pulling your hind legs towards the back of the board and your forefoot near the center of the board, with the ball of your foot above the center. Prepare to spin by rolling your shoulders backwards like a clock or spring. Then rotate your shoulders in the direction of motion, creating momentum around yourself, pulling your hips and knees into the rotation. Perform an aerial 360 rotation of the forefoot, landing in the starting position.

You need to get momentum to be able to do this while spinning, do not stop halfway because you may fall off the board. This is quite difficult, so you should practice on grass, sand or some other similar surface.

Try the Chop the Wood Technique

Chop the Wood is another fun way to dance style on a longboard. Here you will do heel swings, instead of just pressing your heel on the heel of the board like a normal person, you put your forefoot close to and parallel to the rail, you lean towards. Rear, squat on front leg and lift back leg.

First, rotate your forefoot along the rails next to your heels and forward, with your feet pressed against the rails. Squat on your front legs, turn your shoulders forward and push your hips. While sliding in a normal position, jump from the heel of the board to the front foot, stepping slightly forward so that your back foot lands in the center of the board. With your back foot on the ground and your toes edge below the board, flip the board 360º around its horizontal axis by lifting it up with the tip of your foot. More than just a simple leg kick, you actually pull up the plank by jumping with your hips and knees bent 90º. At the same time when the board completes a full rotation, you land from a jump onto the board with both feet. So you’ve just performed a successful Ghostride Kickflip!

More Challenging Combination Technique – The Casanova

This dance technique is a very difficult technique, it is combining many other basic techniques together. You have to practice regularly to be able to play this technique well.

When moving normally with a dancing longboard, bring your feet back, placing your front feet perpendicular to your hind feet.  Cross your back foot across your front foot, bring it forward (Cross Step). Next, cross the front foot over the hind foot, placing it parallel (Peter Pan). Repeat the cross legging now with your hind foot in front of you (Peter Pan), but instead of placing it parallel, move your back foot over the edge of the board, step onto the ground. Put your hind leg down the board a bit, flip the board 360º and jump onto the board in just one motion (kickflip). So you have completed the technique Casanova is difficult but extremely beautiful.
